TCAC Parents/Members:

The OBX Swim Meet, June 5 & 6 became the 4th local swim meet that filled up quickly and 4 teams were bumped out. In order to get the teams in the water the same weekend, TCAC has offered to host a meet at the Fleet Rec Pool in Norfolk on the same weekend. Therefore, we have requested use of the pool and begun to prepare to host a meet with about 150 swimmers from all the teams not entered into the OBX meet.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Unless someone has the experience and wants the job, I've decided to take on the role of Meet Director. I've done it before as we hosted many meets with the YMCA meets, as well as USA meets, prior to coming to the YMCA in 1998.

We will have a two day meet, with one session per day. We will combine age groups so events will alternate between the 12 & under events and the 13 and over events. Both sessions will have warm-ups at 1:00pm, and will finish by 6:00pm. We have several things that we need parental help in order to make the meet a success. We ask all families to help in the meet as we attempt to host our first meet in 3 years. We also have a few opportunities for families to get credit for part of their Yearly Family Fund-Raising Commitments for TCAC.

JOBS OPENINGS AT THE MEET: We need to fill in about 20 jobs per session/day. The sessions will only last 4 hours after warm-ups and if each family helps out one session each day, the we will be fine. USA swimming would like to know that all jobs are filled prior to the meet starting. Please email me with which job and which day you or your spouse can help:

DONATIONS: We are asking everyone to donate either a 2-Liter soda or a 6-pack of gatorade plus a food item (bagels, baked good, pack of hotdogs, etc.) These can be brought to any practice and given to the coaches.

ADS FOR MEET PROGRAM: We are selling Ads for the print in the Meet Program. Either families or businesses may advertise. Families will get the amount sold towards their Fund-Raising Commitment. ¼ Page is $20. ½ Page ad is $30. Whole page ad is $50.

EQUIPMENT SALES: Also, if a parent wants to set up with a Swim Suit/Swim Equipment Dealer to sell at the meet (Aquawear has committed to other swim meet). Some places will send you boxes of equipment that you sell at the meet, then return and the Team gets a percentage of the sales. Family that wants to do this will earn the percentage to team towards their Fundraising.

EMAIL ME: jay@tcacswim.com. The jobs are first come/email, first serve and we can put more swimmers into the meet, now that we are hosting the meet, all late entries are accepted! We'd like to make the meet a bit bigger. Right now there are about 140 swimmers in the meet.

We hope to make the meet a success, but can't do this without your help. Thank you for your support!
